Career switchers face interview questions generic prep can't anticipate — justifying a pivot, reframing transferable skills, and handling doubts about "why now." HireNest needed a product that could simulate that specific conversation, not generic interview practice.
What we built
- A Next.js application with two interview modes — open-ended and mixed multiple-choice — tailored to career-pivot scenarios.
- Integration with Claude via AWS Bedrock to generate tailored questions and structured feedback on clarity, framing, and red flags.
- Encrypted session storage on AWS so users can revisit past mock interviews.
- A free tier (3 questions) and a paid tier (unlimited sessions, job-description-aware questions) to support a real subscription business.
The outcome
HireNest is live and serving career switchers with AI feedback that goes beyond generic interview tips — grounded in the specific challenge of explaining a pivot to a hiring manager.
